2020 Boston Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund

About

We recognize that each community will have their own set of challenges in light of the Coronavirus. Bright Funds Foundation has established the 2020 Boston Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to address the unique needs of the Boston community. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Given the ever-changing nature of this pandemic and widespread impact, the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund will evolve.

Greg Hill Foundation

The Greg Hill Foundation has teamed up with Samuel Adams to support those from the Massachusetts restaurant industry who have been impacted by the Covid-19 closures. Together, and with the insights of notable Boston-area chefs, they will be raising awareness and funds to provide grants to full-time restaurant workers in Massachusetts who are dependent on wages plus tips to cover basic living expenses and provide for their families. Their goal is to provide $1,000 grants to as many qualifying grantees as possible.

Nellie Mae Education Foundation Inc

The Nellie Mae Education Foundation established a rapid response Fund called “Racism is a Virus Too” to respond to the hate crimes and bias against Asian American communities resulting from COVID-19. The Foundation has allocated resources for the Racism is a Virus Too rapid response grant fund to support Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) that provide services for AAPI communities. They recognize that for underserved communities and communities of color in particular, inequities— whether they be access to childcare, healthcare, food, or a paycheck, become exacerbated in such situations. In response to Asian Americans in Philanthropy’s (AAPIP) Statement on COVID-19, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation is standing in solidarity with Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the New England region who have been impacted by xenophobia, racism and Sinophobia stemming from a perceived connection with COVID-19. The Nellie Mae Education Foundation created this rapid response fund to respond to the hate crimes and bias against Asian American communities resulting from COVID-19.

The Marion Institute, Inc. Fiscal Sponsor of The Leadership Brainery

The Leadership Brainery is committed to supporting the well-being of diverse and first-generation college-enrolled student leaders. Several schools in Greater Boston have chosen to suspend on-campus classes and activities, and have given students a short window to make alternative living arrangements. They understand that this unforeseen circumstance presents a hardship for many diverse and first-generation students. Therefore, they are providing College Student Emergency Relief Mini Grants to support diverse and first-generation college students in the Greater Boston area experiencing homelessness and financial hardships during this time. College-enrolled undergraduate students displaced by COVID-19 who meet their criteria and express most need will receive a one-time $100 mini grant.

The Greater Boston Food Bank

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) continues to work alongside their 500+ partner hunger-relief agencies, including food pantries, community meal programs and other food assistance providers throughout the nine counties and 190 towns and cities across Eastern Massachusetts. GBFB is committed to assuring that they continue to distribute food to their partner agencies and through their direct service programs, especially those that impact individuals at high risk. They are fully committed to keeping their Eastern Massachusetts community safe and making sure they receive the nutritious food they need to thrive.
